Short and Hilly

Rode by myself tonight. I managed to get in 10 miles in 36 minutes with 1000 feet of climbing. I have to start pushing myself on the climbs. i need to keep the tempo up! I was still feeling the crossfit workout from yesterday evening (and probably the Tony Horton PAP from yesterday morning).

and He's Back

70 degrees...on November 8th! I felt like I was living in San Diego for a day...and I could definitely get used to this. Joe was back on his game as we pushed the tempo on a 17 mile "Cove" ride. It was an enjoyable start as we were escorted along our route by various canines!

I'll be off the bike tomorrow due to PTCs, but I might just have to make a trip to the "Pain Cave" after the PTCs end.

Mondays

I'm going to start using this for two purposes:

1. Document my workouts
2. Other thoughts on life

Started the day off with the MTBStrengthCoach's August Punisher 2 Workout:

10 Minutes, as many rounds of Guard Press (50 lbs dumbbells), Lunges (10 x each leg), and Renegade Rows (20 lbs dumbbells).

16 minutes of 40 sec on 20 sec off of Single Arm Swing (30 lbs dumbbell), Jump Rope (mostly in the 80s), Romanian Dead Lift to Single Arm Row (30 lbs dumbbell), and Single Leg Medicine Ball Push-ups (20+ reps)

I followed this with a set of Swiss Ball Roll-outs and Four Wall Walks (thigh to wall and thigh to floor).

In the afternoon, I was able to put in 10 miles of the Road SS before we held Parent Teacher Conferences in the evening.

I really don't like this time change, too dark too early!

Ride to Ride!

Lovely Saturday here in Ohio, and with Joe recovering from a lingering infection, Idecided to ride to his house for a sick recovery ride and then ride back home. It was outstanding! The weather was great, temperatures started in the mid 40s and topped out in the high 50s. I was able to get in 40 miles on the CX bike. ilove riding that bike! Steel + 42cknobby tires + woodchipper handle bar = 1 Happy bike rider!

Ridin Solo

The weather inched close to freezing and the sun was out for a slightly more pleasant ride tonight. Parent Teacher Conferences at WCS tonight meant I rolled alone. Tried to keep the heart rate near zone 5. Not really sure what that means, but it was a number on the Garmin and all those real rider types like Jeff Kerkove seem to do zone training so that means I should too! 10 miles later and I was spent, but a good spent.

I really love being on the bike after-school. It helps let me melt away the day, not that there was much melting going on at 27 degrees, but...

After the ride, I was able to fit in a quick body weight workout:

10 rounds of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, and 15 squats starting on the minutes for 10 minutes. Great for the core and total body fitness!

One Year One Gear

I am embarking on a quest to ride nothing but singlespeeds this year. I will be attempting to chronicle my adventures. The blog format is new to me and I'm going to try to post daily to reflect on my rides and thoughts and other ramblings.

We'll see how things go...

Today ride:

13+ miles
21 degrees
184 pounds

Forgot my Craft baselayer = fail

Still dragging an extra 10 pounds while trying to keep up with Joe.

Today felt the coldest of any ride so far. Probably because I left my Craft baselayer at the house, don't wanna do that again.
